  • Need an organizational system that actually supports the way you research? ResearchTies is having a free webinar Sep 24th.  I've seen a demo of this application, and it is for genealogists of all levels including professionals.
  • In their monthly newsletter, Rootsmagic indicates their Android app is still scheduled for a Fall 2013 release. They also encourage us to join their Google+ Community. And? Have you subscribed to their YouTube channel, RootsmagicTV, where they post short informative video tutorials? {You should totally do that if you use their software or you're thinking of buying it.}

  • On Lifehacker, Adam Dachis provides insight to both iOS users and Android users and their preferences for their respective mobile operating systems. {Me? I have and use both for genealogy. Why should it be either/or?} But if you're trying to decide between the 2 operating systems, then this article should help. Just keep in mind there are different kinds of Android phones and when they talk about how great Androids are, they're talking about the more expensive ones. {Like my Android Samsung Note 2. Love my Sammy Girl.}
  • On tuaw.com, Mel Martin explains the iOS app Photo Transfer WiFi which allows you to {You guessed it.} transfer photos and videos over wifi wirelessly from your iOS device to your desktop or laptop computer. Handy.
  • The YouTube Creators Team tells us we'll soon be able to watch YouTube videos offline on our mobile devices. Handy for those who want to watch genealogy and family history videos and tutorials on spotty network connections.
  • I'm always a little surprised when I find out folks are still using the Twitter application to monitor and use Twitter for their genealogy and family history purposes. {Or personal purposes.} Every once and a while I may use the Twitter website, but I mostly use 3rd party applications to access, organize, and monitor Twitter. And Hootsuite is one of them. In fact, it's the one I recommend to my genealogy and family history clients of all genealogy levels, especially the professional ones. On the Mashable blog, Marissa shows us Hootsuite for beginners.
  • iOS 7 will be released today. Buster at cultofmac.com tells us when. Apparently, it's based on where you are located.
  • On his blog, British Genes, Chris shares with us 2 updates: TNA Library Holdings added to COPAC and the directories that The Genealogist has added.
  • Paul Rawlins on the Ancestry Blog explains the new and useful global commenting system feature for their online trees. Very nice. Have you used it yet?
  • On the Billiongraves.com Blog, Lisa shows us how to add and edit a cemetery.
  • On the Google Earth Blog, Mickey explains why Google Earth uses auto-tilt and how to fix that auto feature if you don't like it. Are you using Google Earth for your genealogy and family history research?
  • On their Facebook Page, the APG announced their upcoming webinars which are free to watch live by both members and non-members. Recorded webinars are available later for members only.
  • Do you have an older iOS device that doesn't seem to be compatible with newer versions of your favorite apps? Lance with Mashable.com introduces the Legacy App Download Option that can help you out with that.
