Today's Things

7 #Genealogy Things You Need to Know This Morning, Sunday, 9 Feb 2014, via 4YourFamilyStory.com. #needtoknow
It's Sunday. [The one after Rootstech, no less.] It's time for easy. Cue Lionel Ritchie, please.

  • I agree with Amy Coffin on her blog We Tree Genealogy blog. That was the BEST seat in the Rootstech house. And? Other conferences MUST do this.
  • From the FamilySearch blog, here are more details on their offering a free account access to their strategic partner sites for LDS members.
  • Not using Evernote but want to? Here is a quick tip from the Evernote blog about how to start.
  • On Genea-Musings, Randy spotlights a genealogy-related podcast. [Want more genealogy & family history related podcasts to listen to or want to know what a podcast is, I wrote about that recently.]
  • Explore your online earning opportunities for the upcoming week: Dear Myrtle's G+ Hangouts, Webinars, & Online Events.

  • Yesterday, USGenWeb volunteers uploaded 394 files of records, information, photos, etc. for various counties in the following US states: Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Virginia.
  • And join us today at 3pm CT for Sunday ScanDay, where we virtually "meet" and scan & chat together on a Facebook Page. And by "scan" we mean any scanning-related activity. We'd love to have you!

Did you miss a day this past week? Maybe?

  • Did you miss the 9 genealogy things you needed to know yesterday?
  • How about the 6 genealogy things you needed to know Friday?
  • And how about the 12 genealogy things you needed Thursday?
  • Maybe the 9 genealogy things you needed Wednesday?
  • What about the 10 genealogy things on Tuesday?
  • Perhaps the 8 things on Monday?
  • The 7 last Sunday?

Happy Researching!

Umm, other Conferences MUST do this (Demo theater)? Convention Centers that have them are few and far between. It's not a problem of sponsors and genealogy being slow to change, it's a problem of conference/convention hall layout and technology. Hard to offer what doesn't exist, much as we'd like to.

Jean,

Can you explain specifically how it is not possible with today's venues and today's technology?
