  • On the Scottish Genealogy Blog, Emma shares with us there is a new free pre-1855 baptism search for the south of Scotland on MaxwellAncestry.com.
  • On his blog British Genes, Chris makes a very good point: compare prices of documents before purchasing. Good advice for everyone anywhere. {I, however, was stuck on the fact that he thought £15 was high for a BMD. I just paid $20 for a Texas death certificate. Texas birth certificates are $22.} But his point remains -- compare prices.

  • While it's well past breakfast {and lunch} in the UK {Tea Time news?}, here's something for those across the pond. Findmypast Ireland's Facebook Page shares that tonight's Who Do You Think You Are? features BBC news correspondent, John Simpson, and they will be tweeting live on Twitter during the show.
  • Ancestry.com {US} updated their 1911 Census of Canada collection yesterday. And according to Elizabeth LaPointe on her blog Genealogy Canada, so did Ancestry.ca {Canada}.
  • Academic journals can be very helpful to the family history researcher, and now, according to Diane on the NGS blog, JPASS is our "ticket" to accessing them easily.
  • Here's a brand-spanking new iOS app that scans and OCRs multi-page documents and creates searchable PDFs. And the app will cost you the same as the price of  a fancy schmancy coffee. {I wonder how accurate it is?}
  • The Armchair Genealogist, Lynn, shares with us 4 steps to creating a family history timeline. These can be very helpful for figuring out research problems.

£15 is roughly $30 - which is the about the same for records not yet released to the public in Ontario, Canada
