  • Are you using ArchiveGrid to find archives with collections you need to research and solve your family history mysteries? The ArchiveGrid blog explains to us about its design and functional update, its over 2 million finding aids and collection descriptions, and its new contributors. Bam.
  • Having some Ancestry.com performance issues lately?Scott Sorensen explains to us why on the Ancestry.com blog.
  • But? If you're not having any performance issues on Ancestry.com,then check out the 1 new collection they added and the 1 they updated recently. Did they add something you've been needing for your research?

  • On the BabyCenter Blog {Yes, you read that correctly.}, Melissa Byers brings up a very important point. If we're the picture-taker in our family {by default or on purpose}, are we unintentionally removing ourselves from our family's history? Me: No, if someone is recording all the family stories. Yes, if the only way you are recording your family's history is through photographs. Still, a very thought-provoking piece. {Mainly because I'm, um, the one always taking the photos in my family. At least, I write about my family. Except I don't write about myself much. Crap.} So drink more coffee and have a look-see at it.
  • On the Washington Post Blog, Christina Farr makes us think some more. {*mainlining coffee*} Is it really such a good idea to publicly publish our DNA results...on Facebook?
  • The 9to5 Mac Blog gives us a great rundown on some of the well-known online backup services. {Personally, I use and love Backblaze, which makes their list.}
  • Are your passwords a mess? On the PCMag Blog, Jill Duffy explains how she cleaned up her passwords in 5 weeks. Very nice and detailed explanation.
  • Do you feel like your wireless network is sloooow but don't really have any proof to back that feeling up? {'Cause, you know, we're genealogists and we like proof.} On the PCMag Blog, Samara Lynn shows us how to test our wireless performance.
Happy Researching!
