  1. Do you use Dropbox to store files or collaborate with others? Is that big file syncing time a big time suck for you? They have a new feature for that. (Cultofmac)
  2. I love iMovie. It's what I used to create my quick daily wrap-ups from the NGS 2013 conference in Las Vegas. Makeuseof.com shows you how to make slideshows with it. Go ahead. It's easy. Make some old family photo slideshows with it.
  3. Newspapers.com shows you how to use the "share" feature. While you're thinking about newspapers, check out the titles and pages they've updated lately. Have they added anything in a locale your ancestor lived in or worked in? Or did anything, really?
  4. Makeuseof.com recently tested some iPhone OCR apps. Basically, you scan a document or any paper with text and the app reads and converts the text into searchable text. A handy thing for genealogists and family historians.
  5. It's the Legal Genealogist's fault. She got me addicted to the Defrosting Cold Cases blog. But? Kinda the same thing as uprooting ancestors and their secrets and stories, no? Learn how to use the library to research cold cases.
  6. Songs tell stories. With this collection, get an earful of what stories were being sung in 1934 French Louisiana. From the Library of Congress: Folklife Today: The Lomaxes' 1934 French Louisiana Recordings Go Online.
  7. Findmypast has completed their 100 in 100 Campaign with records for Staffordshire.

  2. Are you using microfilm to access information about your ancestors? [Duh. Or it should be. Not everything is online. It could very well be, say, in the ceiling of some farmhouse's kitchen. Eureka!] Then you need to take a look-see at what the Legal Genealogist has to say about Copyright and Microfilm.
  3. Got a schedule that's threatening to kill you? [Yes.] Got an iPad? [Yes!] Then check out these calendar apps for the iPad from idownloadblog.com. [I'm using Sunrise now. She's lovely. But so is Calendars 5.]
  4. Have roots in Tennessee? [Yes!] The Tennessee State Library and Archives has put Bible Family Records online.
  5. Evernote users: Try these 6 search tips to find anything in Evernote. [I wonder if they'll help me find more time? I've seem to misplace that.]
  6. From Claire on Irish Genealogy News: 1641 Depositions: First Three Volumes Published; PRONI has launched a guide to WWI resources; and Schools' Collections now searchable by name and parish.
  7. Not sure how to interview family members? This Wednesday, Susan Kitchens and the SCGS Jamboree Extension Series will be bringing you the webinar, How to Interview Family: Skills for your Ears, Eyes, Brain. Susan is awesome at this. Don't miss it.
