Rootstech 2012 App is Available!

PictureHome Screen of Rootstech App on my iPhone.
The Rootstech 2012 App is available for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, and Android.

What can you do with the app?
I just took a quick look, but here's what I found:
  • Create and keep your conference schedule.
  • Refer to the Exhibit Hall map and the Salt Palace map.
  • Refer to Developer, User Events, or All Events.
  • Refer to Speaker Bios.
  • Consult Conference PDF documents for additional conference information.
  • View conference photo gallery.
  • Watch conference-related videos that are already found in the app.
  • Access, view, and tweet from the app. [It's like they had me in mind when they added this one. LOL.]
  • Make friends / contacts and connect with them through the app.
  • Access the RSS feed for official conference news.

Did I get everything? I dunno. I'm going to go play with it.

The app is available for the iPhone, the iPod Touch, and the iPad in the App Store on your device or I found it here: http://www.ifreeware.net/download-rootstech-2012.html

Also the app is available for Android in the Android Market.

It appears this app can't recognize you on multiple devices (probably because there isn't a login). I loaded the Android version to both tablet and phone and entered the same profile info in both but it doesn't recognize that I'm the same person. I got separate "friend codes" and sessions scheduled on one don't appear on the other.

If anyone figures out a way to make them sync, I'd love to know. In the meantime, think I'll just use it on the phone since my tablet is wifi only.

But I'm very happy there is an app!

That's too bad that it doesn't sync between devices, that would've been a nice feature.

Every time you request a "friend code" it gives you a new one. Need to see if it's only good for 1 friend or unlimited. I understand the reason for the friend codes but I can also see it getting a bit tiresome requesting and entering them.

I noticed that later about the friend code but looks like it doesn't work anyway (yet?). Since I can be two different people, I tried to friend myself. When I enter the code from the phone on the tablet I get a friend named "null null."

Another little glitch (at least on the Android version) is the schedule of events (under all events and user) shows Wed 2/1 - Fri 2/3 so Wed is really Thurs, Thurs is really Fri and Fri is really Sat. The actual sessions show the correct date and if you select one it goes to the correct day on your calendar.

And right after I said the Friend Code doesn't work and sent an e-mail asking about it, it started working.

Getting frustrated - it will only let me have one friend - when I add a new one the old one disappears. I can't import from my Google calendar into the apps My schedule - have to retype stuff. My Schedule only appears to have one (day) view.
